Stop and smell the roses, please

We hear all the time about young people having heart attacks, strokes and other health issues that used to only happen to the elderly.  When I say young, I mean people in their 30’s, 40’s and 50’s.

Ever wonder why?  A friend of ours had a heart attack day before yesterday.  Thank God, he had a stent put in yesterday and is doing fine.  He felt funny while driving, stopped and called his wife who called 911.  At least he had the good sense to stop driving.  He is in his mid 50’s, non smoker, and is very active.  Who knew?

I keep stressing to anyone who will listen…. STOP… We all feel that we have to do this, we have to get that done, we can’t stop now, the kids have to go here, there and everywhere else.  When are we going to stop,  take a breath, enjoy the scenery?  Do we really want our husband/wife, children, grandchildren go on without us?  That is what is going to happen you know.  The population is going to start passing away at a much younger age.  And at the end of the day the things we “had” to do will still be there.

Nobody is going to worry about all that “stuff”.

STOP, enjoy the things we have and the family we produced.  We nor they will be here forever.

  1. You are so right. I can remember when I used to think that someone is in his or her 30’s was old. Oh how wrong was I, now that I am in my 40’s someone in they’re 60’s or even 70’s is not old at all. Life is just so short and we never realize it till someone we love leave’s us. We all need to stop and not just smell the roses but take long enough to admire them as well.
